Course 1: Medical Emergency Training for Nitrous Oxide through Minimal Sedation Providers and Dental Teams


This program consists of 4 hours of didactic and skills training for the whole office. The training covers basic medical emergencies that commonly occur in the dental office. The staff learns how to work as a team in a medical emergency to provide life-saving treatment for their patients.


Team members learn their roles and learn to perform efficiently to give their patients the best care during those critical few minutes of a medical emergency.

DentalMedics In-office Emergency Training is a comprehensive program designed to educate dental professionals on handling medical emergency situations effectively within a dental office setting.

DentalMedics In-office Emergency Training provides CE hours upon successfully completing our program(s). Our program lengths depend on the dentist’s sedation permit(s) and # of participants. Our courses pick up where BLS training ends.  

What topics are covered in the training program?

The program covers preventing emergencies through patient screening and selection; in-depth discussion of emergency drugs and reversal agents; review and discussion of emergency equipment; identification and discussion of common medical emergencies (causes, signs and symptoms, treatments); review and role play of office emergency plan, protocols, policies/procedures; critical incident stress management; role and responsibilities of the emergency response team; emergency communications; numerous emergency scenarios; and, what to do after an emergency. 


We believe in practicing not until you get it right, but until you can’t get it wrong through training, continual dialog, hands-on experience, constructive evaluation, and repetition.
